Ubisoft Delays “Large Game” to Next Fiscal Year: Is Star Wars Outlaws Affected?
During its Q2 earnings call on Thursday, Ubisoft announced that a major game project is being pushed back to the next fiscal year. The company expressed confidence in its current growth trajectory, stating that:
“The overperformance in Q2 and the current positive momentum of Ubisoft’s brands build confidence for the rest of the year.”
Ubisoft’s Confirmed Guidance but Delayed Release
“We can therefore confirm our announced guidance of strong top line growth and non-IFRS operating income of approximately €400 million, without releasing the other large game we had initially planned to launch during the last quarter of the current fiscal year.”
The Delayed Game: Star Wars Outlaws or Another Title?
While the game wasn’t explicitly named in Ubisoft’s statement, industry insiders suspect that the postponed title could be Star Wars Outlaws. This game was announced in June during the Xbox Showcase, with a projected release date of 2024.
New Release Window: April 2024 to March 2025
With the delayed launch, fans will most likely have to wait until April 2024 or later to play Star Wars Outlaws, assuming it is indeed the game being alluded to. Ubisoft has not yet responded to specific queries regarding the affected title.
