The Last of Us 2 Heads to PlayStation 5: “Remastered” Version in Development
A new job posting on a Naughty Dog developer’s LinkedIn profile hints at the possibility of “The Last of Us 2: Remastered” for PlayStation 5. The experience section of the profile states:
Responsible for overseeing the production of all outsourced environment art assets, weapons and interactive props for two iconic titles: The Last of Us: Part One and The Last of Us 2: Remastered.
Rumors Surface as Early as January 2022
Gaming journalist Tom Henderson us-2-could-have-a-multiplayer-mode/” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>reported on the potential remaster as far back as January 2022. However, details were scarce at that time. By July 2023, the speculation us–multiplayer-confirmed” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>gained more traction with the official confirmation of a multiplayer component for The Last of Us series.
Naughty Dog Expands Its Team
The rumors surrounding The Last of Us 2: Remastered come on the heels of reports that Naughty Dog has hired “at least 25” new employees.
Originally Released for PlayStation 4
The Last of Us Part 2, originally released in June 2020 for PlayStation 4, takes place five years after the first game and continues the story of Ellie while introducing a new character named Abby. Sony has yet to confirm or comment on the existence of The Last of Us 2: Remastered.
