The Finals: A New Target for Cheaters Amidst Open Beta Success
The final countdown has begun – The Finals’ open beta, now live, has unfortunately caught the attention of cheat providers. In my initial games of The Finals, I’ve encountered cheaters firsthand, but this was just a week ago. Since then, the situation has reportedly worsened significantly.
Cheat Vendors Target The Finals
According to the ‘Anti-Cheat Police Department’ on Twitter, large pay-to-cheat (P2C) vendors have zeroed in on The Finals and started marketing cheat bundles that many players are purchasing. These bundles offer aimbot and wallhack exploits, among other advantages.
Cheating in FPS Gaming: A Growing Concern
Sadly, no competitive first-person shooter (FPS) game is safe from cheaters. From Counter-Strike to VALORANT, Call of Duty to Battlefield, and Halo to The Finals, they all face the same issue. This reprehensible practice ruins the entertainment for others.
The Cost of Cheating
More troubling is the amount of money that people are willing to pay for these cheat bundles – to ‘win’ at a beta, for example.
Embark Studios and The Finals
The Finals is the maiden creation from Embark Studios, a small developer that faced setbacks when former Battlefield executives left them high and dry a few years ago. The Finals boasts unique mechanics and has the potential to be an excellent shooter, but given the influx of cheaters, Embark may struggle to build a strong reputation for the game before its launch.
