Fntastic’s Role in The Wild Eight’s Name Change: A Clarification
Initially, when Fntastic announced that it was no longer associated with The Wild Eight, there were suspicions that the company might have been trying to evade consumer scrutiny. However, recent developments reveal a different story.
HypeTrain Digital’s Statement
HypeTrain Digital, the current publisher of The Wild Eight, addressed concerns about the game’s developer name change in a statement to GamesIndustry.biz. According to HypeTrain Digital, Fntastic was the original developer but decided to discontinue work on The Wild Eight for internal reasons within their studio.
The Connection Between Fntastic and The Day Before
“Fntastic was the original developer of The Wild Eight, but after the game’s release in Early Access, the developers decided to discontinue work on the project due to internal reasons within the studio,” HypeTrain Digital told GamesIndustry.biz. “Hypetrain Digital took over the development independently. All business relations with Fntastic were terminated in 2017.
“Following the release of The Day Before on December 7, 2023, a wave of negative reviews for The Wild Eight began, unrelated to the game itself but associated with the original development studio, Fntastic. Yesterday, we made the decision to remove any mention of the developer Fntastic from the game’s page,” HypeTrain Digital added.
Fntastic’s Last Words
As of now, Fntastic’s last public statements about The Wild Eight are replies to disgruntled gamers on Twitter. They have told frustrated players that “shit happens.”
Is this the end of Fntastic drama?
Based on the information provided, it seems that Fntastic is no longer involved in The Wild Eight’s development. However, with the recent wave of negative reviews and public statements, there might still be more to come regarding this gaming drama.
