Alleged GTA 6 Gameplay Footage Leaked Online Before Release on December 5, 2023
A TikTok user named (username) has leaked purported gameplay footage of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). The footage, which shows an expansive new map, has been circulating on Twitter (X) and has sparked intense debate within the gaming community.
Authenticity of the Leaked Footage
Insider Gaming has not been able to verify the authenticity of the leaked footage at this time. However, several contact comparisons suggest that the cityscape in the video matches that of previous GTA games, specifically Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V).
Possible Fake or Legitimate Leak?
The original user has since made his account private, fueling speculation that the entire leak might be a hoax. Some skeptics argue that the user could have manipulated the footage or even taken images from previous games to create a fake. However, the user also posted an image of himself with a man who appears to be Aaron Garbut, Rockstar Games’ vice president of design.
Reverse Image Search and DMCA
Insider Gaming ran the image through several reverse image search engines, which determined that it was indeed original to the internet. However, this does not definitively prove that the footage is genuine or that it was leaked by the TikTok user. There have been claims contact of Rockstar Games sending DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notices regarding the footage, but Insider Gaming has yet to confirm these reports.
Elaborate Fake or Legitimate Leak?
The fact that the original user made his account private suggests that this could be an elaborate fake, but more evidence is needed to make a definitive conclusion. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and update as we hear more.
