Jim Ryan Bids Farewell: His Last Day as PlayStation CEO
After an illustrious 30-year career with PlayStation, Jim Ryan is retiring on September 2023.
Ryan’s Reflections
“I’ve relished the opportunity to have a job I love in a very special company, working with great people and incredible partners,”
Ryan shared in his statement at the time of the announcement. “But I’ve found it increasingly difficult to reconcile living in Europe and working in North America.”
A Privileged Career
“I will leave having been privileged to work on products that have touched millions of lives across the world; PlayStation will always be part of my life,”
he continued. “I feel more optimistic than ever about the future of SIE.”

“I want to thank Yoshida-san for placing so much trust in me and being an incredibly sensitive and supportive leader,”
Ryan added.
Jim Ryan’s Legacy at PlayStation: A Look Back
Ryan joined PlayStation as CEO in 2019, succeeding John (Tsuyoshi) Kodera. Prior to his tenure as CEO, he held several senior positions within Sony.

Starting Monday, April 1, Sony president, COO and CFO Hiroki Titoki will step in as interim PlayStation CEO.
