NetEase’s Upcoming Marvel Universe Hero Shooter: What We Know So Far
According to a report by The Streamr, NetEase is rumored to be developing a 6v6 Overwatch-style third-person hero shooter set in the Marvel universe. The title’s legitimacy was corroborated by journalist Jason Schreier (Tassi) and reputable leakers Kurakasis and Miller on social media.
Game Title: “Marvel Rivals”?
Kurakasis also suggested that the game might be titled “Marvel Rivals,” but The Streamr couldn’t confirm this information.
NetEase’s Past Marvel Projects
NetEase previously developed and published Marvel Super War, a free-to-play 3D and third-person MOBA in the Marvel universe. They also created and released Marvel Duel, a mobile collectible card game.
James Arnold Taylor to Voice Magneto
The Streamr reported that James Arnold Taylor, best known as the voice actor for Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is set to voice Magneto in the upcoming Marvel game.
Budget and Environmental Destruction
The rumored game is said to have a larger budget than previous Marvel projects, and The Streamr reported that “environmental destruction is a big part” of the game.
Announcement Expected Soon
Kurakasis believes that an official announcement for the project is coming soon. NetEase Connect 2024 could be a probable time for the announcement, which might excite fans in May.
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
In the meantime, Marvel fans can look forward to “Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra,” which was announced by Marvel Games last week and is predicted to release in 2025.
