Everything We Know So Far About Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Release Date, Exclusive Deal, and New Features
The much-anticipated second part of the Final Fantasy 7 trilogy, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, is scheduled to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on February 29, 2024. The game will introduce new characters and locations as Cloud and his team continue their journey to take down Sephiroth.
Timed Exclusivity and Release Date
Unlike its predecessor, Rebirth will not have a PlayStation 4 release, as it’s a timed exclusive on PS5 for at least three months. The exclusivity deal between Sony and Square Enix ends on May 29, 2024.
Editions and Pricing
Players will have several options to choose from, including various editions for both physical and digital copies of the game.

Gameplay, Duration, and Previous Game Requirements
Players can expect more of the same large open-world areas and linear storytelling from Rebirth. The game may offer up to 100 hours of content, significantly larger than the original Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s approximately 40 hours. It’s recommended to play the first part of the trilogy before Rebirth for the best experience.
The Return of Classic Characters and Synergy Moves
Rebirth will feature new combat mechanics, including Synergy Moves that are similar to Limit Breaks from the original game but can be used more freely. Each character will have their unique fighting styles and skill trees for customization.
Storyline, Ending, and Future Plans
Assuming the story follows the pattern of the original game’s discs, Rebirth will likely conclude the story up to the end of disc one. This leaves room for the final game to cover the remaining content, possibly in a trilogy format.
A Major Spoiler Alert: The Iconic ‘One-Winged Angel’ Moment
The first disc of Final Fantasy 7 ends with the iconic ‘One-Winged Angel’ moment, which is still a topic of discussion in the gaming community. It’s unclear if Rebirth will continue past this point, but it seems likely based on the exclusivity deal and game length.
